Hints for using EVO
- The minimum hardware requirements for using EVO are
- Intel PC: Pentium 4, 1.5 GHz, 512 MB RAM
- Mac with PowerPC processor: 1 GHz, 512 MB RAM
- To check whether you have sufficient bandwidth (i.e., at least 450 kbit/s per video+audio stream),
use the tool provided here.
- Before starting Koala, the EVO client, via the EVO homepage,
make sure that you have installed the latest version of Java. To check this, use the tool provided
at the Java homepage.
- The colloquium will be broadcast via the EVO server EVOEU_CH at CERN. Hence you should select this
server for your EVO session. You can select the server by clicking with the right mouse button on
the server name displayed at the lower left corner of the Koala window. Select the server manually,
and check the box "Disable Auto Panda Reselection". You need to do all this before you join the
meeting.
- If the link for the broadcast provided at the colloquium does not work, look for the meeting named
"Heidelberg Joint Astronomical Colloquium" under the community "Universe".
- The colloquium will be broadcast via two channels: A desktop copy of the laptop of the speaker (for
better readibility of the overhead slides), and a video+audio channel. These channels will be provided
by the meeting participants "Norbert Christlieb" and "Monika Christlieb".
- If you have any questions to the speaker after his/her talk, you can communicate it via your audio channel,
or using the instant messaging tool (I'll read your question to the speaker, and/or it will be displayed
on the big screen in the auditorium).
